Important Dates
August 31, 2011 - Rachel's Challenge All 6-12 students will attend Rachel's Challenge. This event is hosted by the counseling office and will spread the message of creating a positive culture change within the Mediapolis Community School District.
October 11, 2011 - College Day All seniors will attend the SCC College Fair Day from 9:30 -11:00 a.m.
October 12, 2011 - PSAT/NMSQT The National Merit Scholarship Test is for juniors who wish to compete for a National Merit Scholarship. Testing will start at 8:30 a.m. in the ICN Room. Sign up in the counseling office.
October 14, 2011 - Career Day Juniors will attend the SCC Career Fair.
October 20, 2011- "How to Get a Scholarship" This presentation will answer how to fill out a scholarship correctly to obtain the best opportunity for winning scholarships. It begins at 6:00 p.m. in Room 121.
January 23, 2012- Financial Aid Night A representative from the College Planning Center will explain the financial aid process and how to complete the FAFSA. Beginning at 6:30 p.m. in the Choir Room (121).
February 9, 2012 - ASVAB Testing The Armed Forces Vocational Aptitude Battery is an entrance test for the military. Students may also take as a career interest finder. This test is free and will start at 8:30 in the ICN room. Sign up in the counseling office.
February 18, 2012 - Individual Family FAFSA Assistance Free help with the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). A representative from the College Planning Center will assist families on filling out the FAFSA. This FREE assistance will take place at Southeastern Community College from 9:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m.
February 21, 22, 23, 28, 29 and March 1 - Iowa Assesments All 6th through 11th grade students will take the Iowa Assessments (previously known as the ITBS/ITED) during these dates. Seniors will be excused during the testing times on these dates. Please check the schedule to make sure you report when required.
April 16, 2012 - MEF/NHS Awards Night Students receiving a 3.0 GPA and above for 3 consecutive quarters will be honored by receiving either a certificate or medal. National Honor Society will also induct new members.
May 11, 2012 - Senior Afternoon Awards Assembly The Senior Awards Assembly for academics, sports (3 & 4 letter winners), fine arts, science bowl, Envirothon, mock trial, speech & student leadership team will start at 1:25 p.m. in the school auditorium. Parents are welcome!
May 14, 2012 - Scholarship Night Local and other scholarships will be awarded starting at 7:00 p.m. in the school auditorium. All seniors who applied for scholarships should attend. Parents are welcome!
May 17, 2012 - Underclassmen Afternoon Awards Assembly Underclassmen awards will be presented to students for student leadership team, academic achievements, ITED pins, 3 & 4 sport letter winners, fine arts, mock trial, science bowl, Envirothon, choir & band awards. 1:25 p.m. school auditorium. Parents and family members are welcome!
